Resorthoppa Fuerteventura airport transfers take holidaymakers by taxi, minibus or coach to all destination accommodation at Aldiana, El Cotillo, Esquinzo, Nuevo Horizonte, Caleta de Fuste, Corralejo, Costa Calma, Jandia, Parque Hollandes and Puerto del Rosario.
The name means strong winds and windy it is … a windsurfers’ paradise, in fact, as Atlantic breezes sweep in from the west. But even if your holiday plans extend to no more than lazing in the sun, Fuerteventura airport transfers will have you basking on the sand in a matter of minutes: nowhere else in the Canaries offers so many beaches or such tranquility.
Low-cost airlines: Monarch, Britannia, First Choice and Thomas Cook are amongst the main carriers to Fuerteventura. Many visitors buy flight-only charter trips. And Resorthoppa can arrange Fuerteventura airport taxi, minibus and coach shuttle from any flight to the door of your accommodation at any Fuerteventura resort.
Capital is Puerto de Rosario and the only other significant town is Betancuria, oldest in the Canaries. But fringing the island, 98 kilometers long and 30km at its widest, are more than 150 beaches, with mile after mile of golden sand and massive dunes, and a host of delightful if simple resorts.
Windsurf if you can. This is one of the world’s top destinations for the sport, playing host each July to the world windsurfing speed and slalom event at Sotavento in the south. And there’s diving and surfing too.
See the sights: a coach or minibus tour will take you through the strange rocky contours of the interior of this, the first of the Canary islands to be formed by volcanic eruption aeons ago. But don’t worry, the last volcanic eruption was 7,000 years back. Take a boat ride to tiny Los Lobos just off the north coast and you will really feel you have got away from it all. Back on Fuerteventura a craft village at Tefia and the Betancuria museum explain the island’s history.
Bask in that sunshine: more than 3,000 hours of sun a year and no wonder. The island is on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico.
Just fancy that: Officially this is “Europe”, and the island is Spanish. But it is closest of all the Canaries to the mainland and Africa is almost a swim away, 100km to the east.
